The Ghyllside expedition is the perfect combination of commuter bike and heavy duty tourer.
It is built to the same sloping geometry as our 700c frame sets but uses stronger 26" wheels. The Expedition uses a Reynolds 631 main triangle with a oversized down tube for stiffness under load. The fork, seat stays and chain stays are Reynolds 520, giving a weight / strength ratio similar to most aluminium frames, but with that steel silk like ride for long tours.
With plenty of fork rake an fairly slack headtube angles, handling is stable and predictable when fully loaded, just what 26" tourers need to do.
You can fit upto 1.75" Schwalbe marathon tyres with room for full mudguards
It is a personal choice and most of the Expeditions go out with flat bars with bar ends, but we can fit butterfly bars or even drop bars with cross brake levers "on the tops."
